Angsumala Tamang鈥檚 work is based on ethnomusicology, cultural studies, postcolonial theory, minority rights, and representation of minority borderland identity in sub-Himalayan northeast India. Situated within the framework of critical ethnography, her work involves quantitative interpretation of historic data/texts, interviews, participant observation, and examining the role of culture and music to sustain as well as resist socio-economic inequality and marginalization within particular settings. In addition, self-reflexivity is an integral method that informs and shapes her academic interests and teaching methodology. Her courses focus on geographical perspectives/culture area studies with an emphasis on South Asia.
Dr. Tamang received her M.A.鈥 Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from 泡芙视频app of California,
