USF E-Council and Engineering Students Showcase Talent at 2025 Innovation Fest

The USF College of Engineering E-Council hosted its annual two-day event Feb. 21-22 at the Engineering Building, drawing roughly 200 engineering ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps for competitions, research showcases and networking with industry partners.

The E-Council, led by Chair Srishti Nagraj and Vice Chair Kritvi Rai, organized a successful and well-executed event with the support of their leadership team. Congratulations to the entire E-Council: Finance Chair Neeraj Pillai; Fundraising Chair Farhan Abrar and Vice Chair Irati Matute; Marketing and Communications Chair Divyarajsinh Karmariya and Vice Chair Amrit Ganesh; Outreach Chair Stuti Goyal and Vice Chair Sophia Zaparoli; and NAESC Liaison Ninad Deshpande.

The annual event serves as a platform for ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps to engage directly with employers, share their technical work and participate in major-specific competitions. We would like to extend our appreciation to this year's sponsors: , and .

A highlight of the event was the "Capture the Flag" challenge, a cybersecurity competition designed for Computer Science and Engineering ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps. Participants worked in teams to solve technical challenges that tested their real-time decision-making and cyber defense skills.

Mechanical Engineering ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps participated in FutureScapes 1.0, a campus redesign competition hosted in collaboration with associate ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp Gulfem Yucelen from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The challenge invited ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps to present sustainable and functional ideas for enhancing campus spaces.

Another competition, Mario Kart Mania, required ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps to design, build and race custom robotic vehicles. Teams applied engineering principles from electrical, mechanical and computer systems to compete in a timed obstacle course.

, USF College of Engineering’s Assistant Program Director, helped organize the event and support ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp-led planning throughout the semester.

The event also included a career and networking session, giving ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps the chance to meet with company representatives and explore internship and employment opportunities. We cannot wait until next year's Innovation Fest 2026!
