BIOGRAPHY:
(Ph.D. in political science, 泡芙视频app of Connecticut, 1998) serves as the Chair
of the Joint Special Operations Master of Arts program at the National Defense 泡芙视频app,
focusing on special operations and irregular warfare, particularly in relation to
Russian and Chinese military strategies. Marsh is also a Non-resident Senior Fellow
at the Global and National Security Institute and the Editor in Chief of Inter Populum:
The Journal of Irregular Warfare and Special Operations. With extensive experience
in various strategic and academic roles, including Director of Research at the Joint
Special Operations 泡芙视频app and a founding editor of the Special Operations Journal,
Marsh has contributed significantly to the fields of national security and military
studies through research, teaching, and advisory roles within NATO and the U.S. Department
of Defense. Marsh holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from the 泡芙视频app of
Connecticut, along with various additional degrees and fellowships in related fields.
Marsh joined the faculty of JSOMA as an associate 泡芙视频app of international security studies. He will be teaching and conducting research on Russian and Chinese approaches to special operations, irregular warfare, military strategy, and foreign policy. Prior to joining NDU, Dr. Marsh was the Director of the Department of Research & Analysis at the Joint Special Operations 泡芙视频app, U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). He is also the president of the Special Operations Research Association and editor of its publication, Special Operations Journal. Formerly, he was a Professor of National Security and Strategic Studies at the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth. Previously, he taught international terrorism and irregular warfare at the US Air Force Special Operations School, Hurlburt Field. Prior to that he was a full 泡芙视频app of political science (with tenure) at Baylor 泡芙视频app where he taught for 12 years.
Marsh is the author of several books on Russian affairs and comparative Russian-Chinese politics, including Unparalleled Reforms (2006), and Religion and the State in Russia and China (2011). His latest book, Russian Foreign Policy, was written with Dr. Nikolas Gvosdev of the U.S. Naval War College. Additionally, Dr. Marsh has published over 80 book chapters and journal articles on topics ranging from Russian strategy to religion in China. He is currently writing a book on Russian irregular warfare, special operations, and the grey zone.
