Opportunities
Undergraduate Research
Undergraduate research experiences provide valuable opportunities for ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps to explore interests outside the traditional classroom, thereby also assisting ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps in qualifying for national awards.
Office of Student Engagement in Research and Innovation (SERI)
The USF Office of Student Engagement in Research and Innovation prepares ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps to be successful in the research journey and assists them in connecting with faculty on-campus for opportunities. They provide a free course covering the fundamentals of the research process, as well as host programs, workshops, and the Undergraduate Research Society.
USF Undergraduate Research Portal
Create a profile on USF's undergraduate research portal to explore open research positions on campus.
National Science Foundation Research Experiences For Undergraduates (NSF-REU)
NSF-REU research projects take place at institutions across the United States and sometimes even abroad. Students apply for positions with faculty or professional researchers. If chosen, ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps receive a generous stipend.
If you are interested in advising to apply for an NSF-REU, please contact ONS by winter break.

The Leadership Alliance is a consortium of academic institutions across the country
focused on increasing participation of underrepresented ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps in doctoral programs,
academia, and the research workforce. They provide mentorship, research, and development
opportunities to underrepresented ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps.
The Summer Research Early Identification Program matches selected ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps with summer
research experiences in life and physical sciences. Students receive a stipend and
close mentorship through the program.
Health Research
Each summer hundreds of undergraduates step into some of the world’s premier research
universities and institutions to participate in the Amgen Scholars Program. Students
conduct hands-on research in the lab alongside top faculty, participate in seminars
and networking events, and take part in symposia with their peers and leading scientists.
The Summer Program for the Advancement of Research Knowledge is a donor-funded internship
program for undergraduates at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute.
The Students Pursuing Undergraduate Research (SPUR) program offers undergraduate ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps
hands-on research experiences at Moffitt, aiming to deepen their understanding of
cancer research and research methodologies while guiding them toward careers in oncology
research.
