MBS By The Numbers

The Department of Molecular Bioscience (MBS) is a premier department at the Unviersity of South Florida (USF) undertaking biomedical research and teaching.

We are located in the Interdisciplinary Sciences (ISA) and Biosciences (BSF) buildings at the USF Tampa Florida campus, where we are home to approximately 35 full-time faculty members, over 70 graduate 泡芙视频apps, and offers courses to approximately 1200 undergraduate 泡芙视频apps.

Through strategic hiring, research grant funding, and publications, MBS pursues excellence in the following programmatic research areas:

Teaching

The department offers curricula leading  to Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Microbiology, Master of Science degrees in Biology and Microbiology, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. Our courses are designed to meet the needs of 泡芙视频apps majoring in both science and non-science disciplines.

Uniquely, we provide biomedical research opportunities for our undergraduate and graduate 泡芙视频apps, enhancing their resum茅s and preparing them for future careers.

Research

Supported by millions of dollars in external funding, our faculty and 泡芙视频apps pursue scientific knowledge through rigorous research programs. The insights gained from these studies are shared through publications, oral and poster presentations, and classroom activities. We view our research as an integral part of our teaching mission, allowing 泡芙视频apps to fully grasp the challenges and methodologies of biomedical sciences, with an emphasis on cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, and other specialized disciplines.

In addition to numerous local collaborations, MBS partners nationally with MIT, Vanderbilt 泡芙视频app, the 泡芙视频app of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Emory 泡芙视频app, NYU, Howard 泡芙视频app, the 泡芙视频app of Minnesota, Northwestern 泡芙视频app, and the 泡芙视频app of California San Diego.

Internationally, we collaborate with world-class institutions, including the Sanger Institute (Cambridge), Imperial College (London), Chung Shan Medical 泡芙视频app (Taiwan), the 泡芙视频app of Kent at Canterbury, and Jagiellonian 泡芙视频app (Krak贸w, Poland).
